Beef Breeding Unit

The on-campus facility allows measurement of feed intake of 72 individual cows and their calves for cow efficiency research. The other primary on-campus facility is a small feedlot which is equipped with "Pin Pointer" feeders to measure individual post weaning feed intake of calves. The main 240 head beef breeding project cow herd is maintained at the Antelope Range Livestock Station, Buffalo, SD. This 8186 acre ranch also maintains a 400 ewe flock.
