Doyce Friedow Memorial Scholarship

Doyce Friedow was instrumental in transforming the South Dakota Pork Producers Council from a fledgling organization to the viable organization it is today.  Doyce had been a producer of purebred swine in Iowa prior to coming to South Dakota and thus understood the concerns and aspirations of pork producers.  He believed in promoting the merits of the product of the industry and in supporting research to enhance production of that product.  He worked well with all members in his family of pork producers and was especially supportive of youth activities.  This scholarship was established by members of the SD Pork Producers Council in memory of Friedow who was executive secretary of the association from 1969 to 1986.  He died January 2, 1992.
