Mary Williams Hanson Scholarship

Mary Williams was born near Red Oak, Iowa, educated in the Parker, SD school system and graduated from Nettleton College.  She taught at public schools and also worked as a secretary at the State Capitol in Pierre.  She was married for 20 years to Judge Dan Hanson until his death in 1952.  In 1953 she married Edward Hanson.  They lived in Parker and Sioux Falls, then owned and operated a working ranch at Lake Alvin near Harrisburg, SD.  In the early 1970's they developed the Springdale Estates near Shindler.  He passed away in 1976 and she died in 1984.

A bequest from Mrs. Hanson established the endowment, which supports the scholarship program.
