John Zilverberg Family Scholarship
John
Zilverberg of Holabird, SD is a nationally recognized Polled Hereford breeder
and in 1994 was inducted into the National Polled Hereford Hall of Fame. The
Bar JZ herd has been the number one breeder of Gold Benchmark dams in the Polled
Hereford breed and has recently added purebred Limousin cattle. John is the
breeder of the sire Bar JZ Tradition 434 that proved to be one of the top
performance sires in the Hereford breed and is still being used by artificial
insemination in some of the top herds in the U.S. and Canada today. The Bar JZ
Ranch holds an annual spring production sale. Two of John's children are
graduates of SDSU. Donald graduated in 1970 with a B.S. degree in animal
science and is involved in the family's cattle operation. Karen Zilverberg
Geditz graduated from SDSU in 1971 with a B.S. degree in Home Ecnomics
Education.
